It’s the Little Things

Neolith Tiny House makes up what it lacks in size in sizeable amenities.

The home’s exterior and much of the interior is made from the neolith material because it does not scratch nor stain, and is heat- and fire-resistant.

Neolith Tiny House is no ordinary tiny house. Created by surface fabricator Neolith, this fully functional 500-square-foot abode is in fact an experiential showroom on wheels. Made almost entirely of the compact surface material, it showcases its many virtues. “Known primarily as a countertop material, we wanted to present that Neolith really can be used anywhere in the home,” says Claudia Resende, owner of Atlanta-based Resende Design & Marketing, who conceptualized the project in collaboration with local architect Jeffrey Bruce Baker. The modern-minimalist space took six months to build and is luxurious living at its best—and most compact. “When most people think ‘tiny house,’ they think hippy or low-end, but this is all high-end,” says Resende. Made up of two 25-foot units that connect via pop-up walkway with a retractable skylight, it features 9-foot ceilings, two bathrooms, two bedrooms (a loft and pullout in the living room), a TV area with fireplace and office, an outdoor grill courtyard and a rooftop lounge. Neolith’s virtually indestructible lightweight material (available locally at Stone Center) is chameleonlike in its incarnations, appearing as marble, textiles, stone and wood in the form of flooring, wall cladding, facade and countertops. The showpiece also houses top-of-the-line, energy-efficient and technology-forward fixtures and full-size (there’s even a floor-to-ceiling wine fridge!) appliances from Miele, Sub-Zero and Wolf, and Toto. While the house is not for sale—and may one day serve as a pop-up restaurant in Atlanta—you can visit it June 8 to 11 at the MA! Architecture Tour upon its return to Atlanta from a U.S. tradeshow circuit.
